Renovating Homes Since 1995
It's all about the details
when it comes to design.
Every project needs a properly structured plan that guides
the renovation process; a road map with details.
Kitchen Renovations
Kitchens Renovations today in Collingwood homes' and condos' are drastically different from the past; they now usually require extensive improvements to accommodate today's changed lifestyles. They involve numerous upgrades that are needed for expanded cooking areas within the home, as well as substantial electrical, plumbing, and HVAC work to support improved appliances and lighting requirements.
The most common upgrade is the open concept. Walls are now being removed and the kitchen is becoming part of the living area. Kitchen countertops are also now mostly solid surface materials that include materials such as engineered quartz, granite, wood, and stainless steel. They are easy to clean and allow for under mount sinks that are very much desired. The kitchen island (with seating and large work surface areas) acts as a social connection between kitchen and living activities. And appliances and finish materials are now far more practical and aesthetically appealing, as they are in full view of the living area. Improved lighting and electrical has also played an important part; pot lights, additional outlets, and under counter LED lighting are typical additions to even the most basic kitchen.
Bathroom Renovations
The bathroom is a place where you want to relax, refresh, and rejuvenate. It needs to be open and inviting with pleasant textures and colours, and should be intriguing with glass enclosures, interesting tile work, and upgraded fixtures and fittings. At the top of the list of "must haves" for most Collingwood bathrooms is the thermostatic shower system. It features large shower rain heads, adjustable shower arms, and temperature control valves. These units not only create visual interest, but enhance the shower experience.
Glass enclosures for showers are also a definite upgrade to curtains. They visually expand the size of your Collingwood bathroom and allow for a more illuminated and open shower. Today, Schluter waterproof membranes for tiled showers virtually eliminate past problems associated with leaking showers; stand alone furniture grade bathroom vanities both increase storage and accentuate style in the bathroom; dual flush toilets improve water efficiency; and jacuzzi tubs with aeration and chroma therapy lighting add to the bathing experience and luxury feel of your bathroom.
Whole House Renovations
If you have recently purchased an older home/condo, or require major upgrades where you’re living right now, you may need a whole house renovation, which is extensive and involves most major elements of your home. In these types of projects the interior finishes are removed and you start from scratch, but you may also decide to retain certain finishes, which still may be in good condition i.e. the wall surfaces, flooring, trim work, and most of the mechanical systems of the home including the electrical, plumbing, and HVAC.
Typically though, most whole house renovations involve at least the kitchen and bathroom along with other necessary improvements to the home, which may include the basement, laundry room, bedrooms, and other common areas. Upgrades and repairs may also be needed with insulation, the flooring, plumbing and HVAC, along with electrical and wall finishes. In some instances, the exterior and structural elements of the home may also need to be looked at including the home’s framing, masonry, roofing, landscaping, and windows & doors.
Basement Renovations
Almost every home in Collingwood has a basement. Unfortunately, many are unfinished, or have been renovated previously by DIYs and have not been done properly; it is common to see poorly insulated basements with illegal electrical and plumbing work, along with many other deficiencies. Renovating your basement with the same attention to details as the rest of your home will add vital functional living space and increase much needed storage and utility areas.
The most common attraction to renovating a basement is adding an additional bathroom. Space is abundant, so large bathrooms can be added with elements perhaps not appropriate in the other bathrooms of the house. Whether it's a large tub, sauna, or walk in shower, it can be a treat and definitely add value to the home.
